Keeping my hands and eyes trained

Writer: Lisa RosenmeierLisa Rosenmeier

Oh, my heart aches for my items to arrive. I don't want to rush out an spend a bunch of money on supplies I know are on the boat and will be arriving. Large boards for cutting and stretching canvas. My big brushes for applying gesso. A large proper easel. The ideas are coming and some require scale. I'm taking reference photos and writing out my ideas. Sometime rewriting out my ideas, a nights sleep can be helpful. Yet my hands and eyes need to stay up on there training. What to do?

For now, I have chosen to paint smaller, studies to be exact for a larger piece that I have in mind. Many tiny swallow paintings, until I'm sick of painting these birds. You'll even see me working on a sunset or two and some boats. But don't worry. Remember, these are studies for a much larger piece. I have not changed my style. Sometimes great art takes time.
