Into The Wild

"We acquire certain opinions of the several animals and think of some of them as royal animals, others as silly, of others as witty and others as innocent."

                                                                                    -Apollonius of Tyana

There is a long history in which humankind has incorporated animals into our lives, whether it was through religion, folklore and fairy tales, litterature, film, TV and video games, it has paralleled our existence. We have made sculptures, drawings and paintings of them. We boast about having animal like traits - brave as the lion, eyes as the hawk, crafty like the fox or wise as the owl. We project emotions and thoughts of human characteristics to the interpretation of an animal's behavior. We have domesticated some and even have brought others into our homes as pets.

In modern times, a once pet is now a cherished friend and even called our fur baby. Our youth even wear hats that have animal ears and adults are known to dress up as black cats and werewolves for Halloween.

In short we are in love with animals or at least fascinated with them.
